Takarazuka is a city that runs on spectacle. Home to the famous all-female Takarazuka Revue theater company, it has a particular energy — part resort town, part cultural destination, tucked into the hills north of Osaka and Kobe. The golf club carries some of that character: refined, well-maintained, and worth the visit.
The Course
Takarazuka Golf Club sits in the hills above the city, a tree-lined course with a traditional Japanese club feel. The layout is a genuine test — not the longest course in the region, but tight enough off the tee to demand accuracy and well-conditioned enough that approach play and putting matter.
Elevation changes keep the round interesting throughout. Several holes require blind or semi-blind approach shots that reward local knowledge on the first visit; by the back nine you’re starting to understand the course’s logic. The greens are consistent and hold well-struck approaches.
The Club Experience
Takarazuka Golf Club has the atmosphere of a well-run private club — attentive without being stiff, traditional without being unwelcoming. The lunch between nines is, as at most good Japanese clubs, genuinely good: Japanese set menu, cold beer, and enough time to talk through the first nine before heading back out.
After the Round: Takarazuka and Beyond
Takarazuka itself is worth exploring if you have the afternoon. The Grand Theater is the centerpiece of the city — even if the show isn’t your thing, the atmosphere around it is worth seeing. From Takarazuka, Osaka is 30 minutes by train and Kobe is 20 minutes by car. Either works for dinner.
