The Course
The course sits in hilly terrain with pond hazards that are positioned to genuinely affect play — not background scenery, but water that demands real decisions on approach. The strategic layout is one of the course’s strengths: accuracy and positioning matter more than distance, and the variety of demands hole-to-hole keeps the round engaging throughout.
The greens are fast and well-maintained — faster than many Chiba courses, which catches first-timers out. Reading the speed early on is worth paying attention to. As a Tokyu property, the overall conditioning and food are both above average: the dining here is consistently well-reviewed, and the clubhouse experience matches the quality of the course.

Katsuura is far enough from Tokyo that it makes sense to combine the golf with a night in the area.
