Mt. Akagi is one of Gunma’s defining landmarks — a broad-shouldered dormant volcano whose forested slopes rise above the Tone River valley and define the horizon for much of the prefecture. Northern Country Club’s Akagi Golf Course is built on those slopes, offering a round of golf with genuine volcanic terrain and mountain atmosphere.
The Course
The course climbs the lower slopes of Akagi-san, with elevation changes that create natural variety and approach shots that play differently from hole to hole depending on the gradient. The forest cover provides shade and a cooler microclimate in summer — one of the practical advantages of playing at altitude on a mountain course. Greens are well-maintained.
