Some golf courses are just good. Hawaii Prince Golf Club is one of those rare ones that’s genuinely stress-free from the first hole to the last — and I mean that in the best possible way.
I’ve played it once, shot an 86, and I’m already planning to go back. That says everything.
The Course
Hawaii Prince Golf Club is located in Ewa Beach on Oahu’s west side, about 30 minutes from Honolulu. The course was designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay, and it shows — wide fairways, generous greens, and a layout that’s both scenic and playable.
Water comes into play on many holes, but it never feels punishing. The course rewards good shots without destroying you for bad ones. For visiting golfers who want to enjoy the experience without grinding through a brutally difficult layout, this is perfect.
The Plane Overhead
Here’s something you don’t get at most golf courses: Honolulu Airport’s flight path runs directly overhead. Planes come in low and loud — and somehow, it adds to the experience rather than taking away from it.
As a pilot, I’ll admit I spent more time than I should have looking up. There’s something surreal about standing on a fairway in Hawaii, watching a wide-body jet on final approach, knowing that in a few hours you might be in that cockpit yourself.
Why It’s Stress-Free
A lot of golf courses in Hawaii feel like they’re trying too hard — overpriced, overhyped, packed with resort tourists who slow everything down. Hawaii Prince is different. It’s well-run, the pace of play is good, the staff is genuinely friendly, and the whole experience feels relaxed.
You show up, you play great golf, you enjoy the scenery, and you leave happy. Simple as that.
