The southern part of Kyoto Prefecture — around Kizugawa and the old towns of Kamo and Yamashiro — is quieter than the tourist-heavy north. This is the Kyoto that most visitors miss: forested hills, ancient temples without the crowds, and golf courses that feel like they belong to the landscape rather than imposed on it. Kamo Country Club is one of those courses.
The Course
Kamo Country Club is a hillside parkland course set in the wooded terrain of the Kizugawa area. The layout has genuine variety — the terrain creates natural separation between holes, and the mix of tree-lined corridors and more open holes keeps the round interesting throughout. The greens are well-conditioned and the overall maintenance standard is solid.
The location in southern Kyoto makes it accessible from both Kyoto and Nara — roughly equidistant between the two ancient capitals, which opens up good day-trip options on either side of a round.
