Inabe City sits in the far north of Mie Prefecture, where the prefecture shares its border with Shiga and Gifu in a mountain zone dominated by the Fujiwara and Gozaisho peaks. This is a different Mie from the Ise Grand Shrine and the Kumano Kodo — cooler, more alpine, and with a character shaped by the Suzuka mountain range rather than the Kii Peninsula. Fujiwara Golf Club is built into this northern highland terrain.
The Course
The course uses the mountain terrain of northern Mie with elevation changes and forested corridors that create a layout quite different from the flatland courses of the Ise plain. The Gozaisho ropeway and the mountain scenery of the Inabe area add context to the round. Greens are well-maintained and the overall atmosphere is distinctly alpine for a Mie Prefecture course.
