Lake Onuma sits at the foot of Mount Komagatake — a perfectly formed stratovolcano that last erupted in 1929 and left a landscape of volcanic debris islands, pine-fringed lake shores, and the kind of open sky that southern Hokkaido does particularly well. Onuma Lake Golf Club is set in this landscape, a course that pairs genuine natural beauty with properly maintained golf.
The Course
The course uses the flat lake-edge terrain with Komagatake as an ever-present backdrop — the kind of volcanic cone that frames a golf shot in a way that mainland Japan simply cannot replicate.
