The southern Boso Peninsula has a different character from the more accessible parts of Chiba — the terrain is hillier, the coastline more dramatic, and the distance from Tokyo creates a sense of genuine escape that the courses closer to the capital can’t quite replicate. Boso Country Club occupies good highland terrain in this southern section of the peninsula.
The Course
The course is built on the rolling highland terrain of southern Boso, with ocean glimpses from elevated holes and a layout that uses the natural contours of the land effectively. The journey from Tokyo — about 90 minutes — is longer than the commuter-belt courses, but the setting rewards the extra travel time. Greens are well-maintained and the overall atmosphere is relaxed and scenic.
