Lake Kasumigaura is Japan’s second-largest lake — a broad, shallow expanse of water that dominates the southern Ibaraki landscape and creates a distinct microclimate along its shores. Okadaira Golf Links, in Miho Village near the lake, takes advantage of that flat lakeside terrain to offer a links-influenced layout that’s unusual in this part of Japan.
The Course
The links-style layout features relatively open fairways, firm conditions, and wind that plays a real role in club selection. It’s a different experience from the forested hillside courses common in Ibaraki — more exposed, more dependent on ground game strategy, and with a quality of light that the open lakeside terrain provides.
