The Mitake-Mitake Town area of southern Gifu sits on the old Nakasendo highway corridor — the mountain post road that connected Edo to Kyoto through the heartland of Japan. Today the area is better known as a gateway to the Kiso Valley further east, but the surrounding hills retain a quietly attractive character. Sun Classic Golf Club is set in this terrain.
