If you’re flying into Tokyo and thinking about squeezing in a round of golf — you absolutely should. Japan’s golf courses are immaculately maintained, the service is exceptional, and the experience is unlike anywhere else in the world.
I’m a pilot based in Tokyo, and I’ve played dozens of courses in the Chiba area — just east of Tokyo, near Narita Airport. Here are my top picks for foreign visitors.
1. Narita Fairfield Golf Club
Best for: Visitors flying into Narita
Only about 15 minutes from Narita International Airport, this is the perfect course if you want to play before heading into Tokyo — or on your last day before flying home. Accessible, well-maintained, and great value.
- 🕐 Access: 15 min by taxi from Narita Airport
- 💴 Price range: ¥8,000–¥15,000
- 📅 Booking: Available via Rakuten GORA
2. Bellselvah Country Club Ichihara
Best for: Value players
27 holes means you’ll never get bored. OBs are relatively rare, making it forgiving for visitors unfamiliar with the layout. Easy highway access from Tokyo. I’ve played here multiple times and it never disappoints.
- 🕐 Access: About 60 min from central Tokyo
- 💴 Price range: ¥6,000–¥12,000
- ⭐ My rating: 5/5 — great value, great course
3. La Vista Golf Resort
Best for: Players who want a challenge
Narrow fairways and pressure-filled holes — this course will test your game. Beautifully maintained with excellent food. Not for beginners, but if you’re a single-digit handicapper, you’ll love it.
- 🕐 Access: About 90 min from central Tokyo
- 💴 Price range: ¥15,000–¥25,000
- ⭐ My rating: 5/5
4. Taiheiyo Club Ichihara
Best for: Premium experience
One of Japan’s most prestigious golf brands. Impeccable course conditions, top-tier service, and a true luxury golf experience. Worth splurging on at least once.
- 🕐 Access: About 60 min from central Tokyo
- 💴 Price range: ¥20,000–¥35,000

Final Thoughts
Golf in Japan is an experience every golfer should have at least once. The attention to detail, the service, and the course conditions are world-class. The Chiba area alone has over 100 courses — and I’m working my way through them.
