Yamamoto Town is at the southern tip of Miyagi Prefecture, bordering Fukushima — a coastal strip famous for its strawberry farms and the view of the Pacific that the flat Sendai plain provides right to the water’s edge. The town was heavily affected by the 2011 tsunami and has rebuilt with renewed energy. Miyagino Golf Club sits in the inland agricultural terrain behind the coast.
The Course
The course is set on relatively flat terrain with well-maintained fairways and a design that uses water features and bunkering to create challenge. The Pacific coast is close enough to make sea breezes a factor on exposed holes. The overall atmosphere is open and relaxed, with the wide Tohoku sky a constant presence. A good option for golfers travelling the Joban coast between Sendai and Iwaki.
